Read the latest here... it is still a nail biter right up to the finish line. Fighters are playing the emotional card with STEM K-12 and minority outreach program funding cut laments. Hey, I grew up in a poor family. K-6 was the 6 room Huckeberry Hill schoolhouse on the farm and factory side of town, they did their best with what little they had and we saluted the flag and prized effort over charity. Watching Space actually happen got me excited and got me reading and studying. Get the money into the work, launch humans doing amazing things, and the kids will WANT to learn how they can do it too.Especially the "underprivileged" who, more than most, yearn to get away from where they are continuously told that they are stuck. Being told by a bored teacher that "people can do things" pales in comparison to seeing an exciting job actually being possible for them. |
