Alive Yes, Putting my money where my mouth is

K.  I have seen the texts and emails.  Got it.  It is thought that a blog is about posting.  Got that too.  But this isn't a "blog", it was started several years before that ugly term went viral.  This is a web site, made from the ground up by me to test out how a web site is made from the ground up.  A "blog" is a tool that people who don't know how to code and script use to promote themselves.  Some are great, many are vanity plates.

And don't get me started on Facebook.

I put stuff here that I need to remember so I can go back and find it when I forget. Though sometimes when the whiskey hits me just right I guess I do use this as a place to vent or pontificate, there's no need to remember my foibles.

Benny The Focused Lego

Lego Movie is coming.  The book is already here.

My son yelled across the Barnes and Noble store ...

...that we are in it :).

Time Travel is Impossible

Time Travel is Impossible.  That's what they say now ... and that's what they might say in 100 years... but in that same future universe a century later still another group may be surprised to find that their ship and crew are back in 1969 just before the Apollo 11 launch.

It time travel impossible?  Or do we just have to wait for more time?

Today was a good day

This site is my place to test out tech, often blowing up the whole show, and for my notes of how I did stuff so that I can refer to them later when someone actually is paying.. and sometimes just for stuff.

If you don't want to know about my son seeing Saturn for the very first time or about Ed Buckbee's wonderful book about Wernher von Braun and the early history of the Marshall Space Flight Center in the words of the people who made it and Apollo come to be, then don't click up this page.

This one is just for me, because today was a good day.

San Diego Air & Space Museum

We headed down to San Diego last weekend for our first trip to the Wild Animal Safari Park and also spent some time at the Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park. It was our second visit to the museum and, again, it was great.

They currently have the NASA Journey to Our Future exhibit and if you haven't seen it in your town yet, you should go for it. It's a lot of fun and unlike a lot of travelling shows the parts and pieces are still in great shape.

I wish it weren't such a haul from LA, because this year they have a kids summer program that looks awesome.

For the fam, here're a few phonepics...

Big shuttle boomers!

Today, September 11th 2009, at almost 6 in the afternoon, the Space Shuttle Discovery had to land up at Edwards Air Force Base. Earlier in the day I'd heard a casual mention on the radio that we'd be hearing the dual sonic booms in the LA area at around 5:45... but I had no idea just how loud they would be!

Before heading out to pick up my son at kindergarten I put my two mini recorders on the ledge of my office balcony, just hoping that they might pick up something.
