Got my dvd of the mars Underground DVD .. interesting research on the packaging. though.
Ocule Films sent the dvd in a nicely printed case but the dvd itself is a greenie,,, silkscreened label but a "home burned".
The dvd came in a regular manila envelope with a hand written return address for Ocule Films.
I don't mind any of this in that the Mars Direct community is tight and part of the picture is about minimizing costs, so burning and sending on demand instead of holding inventory is understandable... but at the same time it has a minor lack of professional smell and that makes something in the back of my mind say "Boy, is the 'movement' too small?'
This does present an opportunity because small means agility but it can also point to the possibility of Mars Direct being a "Zappa" in that the core base really is TINY and potentially not able to get a $40 billion dollar project in any way off the ground.
Tough call... small is grassroot and hip and "we'll show them how it's done" but it is also "amature"
As said, good research, leads to questions. Have to check out the local Mars Society meeting and see if these folks have potential or if it's just a fanboy club.
